Boone County Investigations

 

The Investigative Division is responsible for general and follow-up investigations. Among some of the crimes investigated by the Investigations Division are Homicide, Arson, Serious Assaults, Sexual Assaults, Robberies, Burglaries, Larceny/Theft/Fraud, Drug Distribution, and others.  This unit also comprises our Crime Scene Investigation (CSI) unit and Crime Analyst.

 

Members of Investigations Division receive additional specialized training to prepare them for the specific types of investigations to which they respond. Examples of this training include fingerprinting, crime scene photography, interview & interrogation techniques, crime analytics, crimes against children training, and evidence collection. Detectives, technicians, and analysts assigned to the Investigations Division are frequently time consuming, demanding and challenging.

 

The Investigations Division works closely with the Lebanon Police Department; Zionsville Police Department; Whitestown Police Department; Department of Children Services; Boone County Prosecutor’s Office; Indiana State Police; Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF);  Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI); and many others.
