Boone County, Indiana Sheriff's Office - Sheriff Mike Nielsen

Youth Programs

The Boone County Sheriff’s office is dedicated to the youth in our community.  For the past 21 years we have had a D.A.R.E. officer in our elementary and middle schools.  The D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) program is instrumental in not only teaching the children about danger of drugs, classes also cover bullying, texting and how to treat each other with respect and kindness.

The Boone County Sheriff’s office, Lebanon Fire Department, Emergency Management, and Emergency Medical work together to hold a Camp 911 for Boone County students, ages 8-11; and a Teen Academy for Boone County students, ages 12 thru 17.  These programs allow the students to interact with the various officers and learn what each department does for our community on a daily basis.
